ABOUT THE ROLE
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and detailed Financial Accountant to join our team at our Hawthorn East Head Office. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for leading the day-to-day management of financial operations and compliance across all V&W entities.
You will play a pivotal role in executing the financial strategy, driving core strategic planning, and ensuring accurate reporting to support sound decision-making across the business.
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will –
Financial Planning & Analysis: Execute the annual budget cycle and multi-year forecasting processes while providing high-quality variance analysis and financial insights for all V&W entities.
Financial Operations & Control: Oversee day-to-day accounting functions (GL, AP, AR, and payroll) and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Reporting & Compliance: Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
Audit & Tax Coordination: Act as the primary contact for external auditors and tax agents, managing all documentation for annual compliance and reviews.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership: Provide commercial support and guidance to non-finance department heads to improve financial literacy, and mentor finance team members.
Desired Skills and Experience
YOU WILL BRING:
CA/CPA qualification and a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years in a similar position, ideally within the Retail or Fashion industry.
Significant experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling.
Proficiency in AP21
Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and ELMO Payroll systems is highly regarded.
A strong understanding of statutory requirements and accounting standards, combined with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships and communicate financial information effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
A strategic and operational mindset with the ability to work both collaboratively in a cross-functional team and independently.
